Because of its iron and mineral content, jaggery may help with weight loss indirectly by improving digestion and increasing metabolism. But by itself, it's not a weight-loss food. Using too much can impede weight loss efforts because it still contains calories and sugar. Small amounts of jaggery can be a healthier substitute for refined sugar, but diet and exercise are far more important for actual weight loss than any one meal.
